The Big N has announced that their beloved handheld will be getting a second revision called, New Nintendo 3DS. The new hardware revision features a number of improvements over the older version, but with a few setbacks that will sure to rub a few Nintendo fans the wrong way.

Following are the feature sets of the New Nintendo 3DS

  •  4.88 inch screen 3DS LL
  •  3.88 inch screen 3DS OG
  • ABXY Buttons color coded
  • A new stick like button (like a small slide pad stick)
  • ZR and ZL shoulder buttons
  •  No need for circle pad pro
  • Wider 3D sweetspot
  • NFC embedded in device
  • HTML5 Support
  • Faster CPU for faster downloads and browsing
  • Removable battery
  • Removable and customizable faceplates

Alongside the unveil of the New Nintendo 3DS, Xenoblade Chronicles will be remade for the new handheld. Speculation has it that the Xenoblade Chronicle will be exclusive to the new model. Native Japanese speakers say that the improved GPU has made the port possible, and thus the game will not be compatible with the older version. Furthermore, Sakurai says that they are currently developing software that will be exclusive to the new model. To be honest, I am not happy about this news, if it turns out to be true.

The New Nintendo 3DS  launches in Japan on October 11. Nintendo has confirmed that the revision will be making its way to Europe in 2015.
