No More Mature Wii U Titles From Ubisofts
I suppose Wii U owners won’t be stabbing folks in the back anymore. Speaking with Game Informer – CEO of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot discussed why the upcoming Assassins Creed titles are not coming to the Wii U.
In response to the drop of support for Wii U, and why the latest Assassins Creed is not coming to Nintendo’s system, Guillemot explains, “What we see is that Nintendo customers don’t buy Assassin’s Creed. Last year, we sold in very small numbers.”
Instead, Ubisoft will redirect their focus on games that Nintendo consumers buy such as Just dance and other family friendly titles. “What we see is that they are very interested in Just Dance, very interested by other kinds of games ,so what we are trying to do is to focus more on the types of games they are interested in.”
Unfortunately, Watch_Dogs is looking to be the last mature title from Ubisoft. “Watch_Dogs is coming to Wii U, it will be the only mature game we publish on it.” said Guillemot.
It is rather unfortunate that Ubisoft is dropping support for Wii U, but I can’t be mad at them – despite a few indiscretions – Ubisoft has made a decent effort to provide Wii U gamers with quality games.
