Mega Man’s Custom Moves Revealed For Super Smash Bros.

Following from yesterdays exciting announcement concerning a certain overpowered character, director Masahiro Sakurai has opted to be more conservative with the information shared today.

In today’s “Pic of the Day” update, Sakurai has introduced two custom moves for Mega Man: Beat and the Plant Barrier.

Beat (the blue bird) is a support robot built by Dr. Cossack to assist the Blue Gunner in certain Mega Man game’s. Judging from the screenshot, it is clear that Beat will be a custom Up-Special move that will latch onto Mega Man’s helmet and proceed to carry him through the air.

The second custom move, the Plant Barrier, is a special weapon from Mega Man 6. The Plant Barrier is a shield made from energy shaped like flower petals which will likely dissipate when hit. Like in Mega Man 6, the Plant Barrier cannot be thrown in Super Smash Bros (my hypothesis) and this will likely be the key difference Mega Man’s normal attack, the Leaf Shield.

Sakurai:

Pic of the day. Here’s Beat! And Plant Barrier!! These are some of Mega Man’s custom special moves. You might also be able to use some signature boss-like moves from the Mega Man series, too.

Super Smash Bros For 3DS is due for release on October 3. While Super Smash Bros. For Wii U still has a tentative holiday launch.
