Have you ever wanted to massacre an entire battalion of good hearted soldiers? Have you ever wanted to crack the skull of the mute, Link? Or for once do you want to see the bad guy to succeed in kidnapping the princess? Or simply want to be evil for one day? If you answered “Yes” to all the aforementioned questions then I have good news for you.

For the first time ever for the franchise – Zelda fans will be able to play as their favorite villains. Announced during the Hyrule Warriors Nintendo Direct – Koei Tecmo revealed that the Usurper King Zant, The Demon Lord Ghirahim and the almighty Dark Wizard Ganondorf will be playable characters in Hyrule Warriors.

Unlike Zant and Ghirahim whom heavily draw from their respective game models, Ganondorf has been given an original model in Hyrule Warriors – now fashioning long, wild hair, new armor and wielding two great swords.

As expected, Ganondorf is brutal and violent in his combat style. He ferociously swings the dual great sword with immense power, and when need be, he can draw upon the power of dark magic to destroy his foes.

In addition, if you happen to miss the Hyrule Warriors Nintendo Direct, you can watch the full video above. Most of the information detailed in the direct has been known for a while . The direct covers how the game is structured, playable characters, announced weapons, leveling system and the Adventure Mode. Normally, I would have summarized the information for your convenience, however, watching an infomercial is vastly more entertaining, so I would encourage you to watch the Direct.

With this said, I will explain the newly announced “Adventure Mode.” In Adventure Mode, players are tasked to complete a grid of challenges that largely resembles an Old-School Zelda Map. Entering and completing each grid challenge will gradually unlock the remaining map. According to Nintendo, many of the playable characters and weapon can only be unlocked through Adventure Mode.

Will you be joining the dark side in Hyrule Warriors? Or will you strictly play as the goodies? Let me know in the comment section!

Hyrule Warriors is scheduled for release on September 19 in Europe, September 20 in Australia and September 26 in North America.
