In a strange twist of events, a new Pokemon games has been announced for Japanese arcades – titled Pokemon: Battle Nine. Developed by Namco Bandai, Pokemon: Battle Nine will allow players the opportunity to capture all the Pokemon in exchange for their precious coins.

From what I can gather, the arcade game will feature the signature turn base battle system of the mainline Pokemon series, which is used to capture all the Pokemon on the 3×3 Grid. Unfortunately, I cannot adequately interpret the other gameplay mechanics showcased in the trailer. Thankfully, Mii-gamer has a resident Japanese translator in Jocelyn. I am sure she will gladly translate the information for us.

Currently, there is no word whether Namco Bandai intends to release Pokemon: Battle Nine in the west, but I suspect the machine will eventually make its way into our local arcades.

In the meantime, please do check out the trailer below!
