Lately, Sakurai has been generous with the latest “Pic of The day” updates posted in Miiverse. Yesterday, a new stage was unveiled for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. While the stage does not have an official title – the battle arena draws inspiration from the long history of the Paper Mario franchise. The stage functions similarly to a pop-up book in that the scenery will change when the background folds over and the opens up again.

Today, Mr. Sakurai detailed the new item, Boss Galaga. The Boss Galaga use the tractor beam  to carry you away to the top of the screen. The item sounds like a deadly weapon to use in battle, especially if you can catch the opponent in the tractor beam. I like how the two Villagers are cheering the fact that Donkey Kong got trapped!

The Boss Galaga hailed from the 1981 arcade classic, Galaga developed by Namco and Midway. This is is a nice throw back to retro gamer’s

Sakurai:

Pic of the day. If you get caught in the Boss Galaga item’s tractor beam, it will carry you away to the top of the screen. You can shoot it down, but it won’t join you in battle for double the firepower.

Super Smash Bros For 3DS is due for release on October 3. While Super Smash Bros. For Wii U still has a tentative holiday launch.
