Takamaru Revealed As An Assist Trophy In Super Smash Bros For Wii U
Waiting for Super Smash Bros For Wii U and 3DS seems like an eternity. Since we first laid our eyes on the new Smash Bros back at E3 2013, anticipating the games release has been excruciating to say the least. The torture has only been made worst with Sakurai revealing tiny details daily about the game in the Super Smash Bros Miiverse community.
Last Friday, Sakurai finally unveiled the Main Menu UI for Super Smash Bros. For 3DS. Detailed in Sakurai’s Miiverse post, the main menu will be fully animated with the bottom screen displaying pictures and information of the respective model. Also noteworthy, is the Wii U icon position at the bottom, which I’d assume is the bottom that will allow you to exchange data between the 3DS and Wii U.
Today, Sakurai revealed that Takamaru will be an assist trophy for Super Smash Bros For Wii U. Takamaru first appeared as the protoganist in the Famicom Title Nazo no Murasame-jō, which was an action-adventure game featuring Samurai’s and Aliens (similar to the original Legend of Zelda).
Interestingly, Takamaru did appear in Super Smash Bros Brawl in the form of a sticker and in Captain Rainbow. As an assist trophy, Takamaru will use the cool sounding move, “Multidirectional Pinwheel Knife Rook Attack!”
Nazo no Murasame-jō was never localized, so it is likely Takamaru is a character that many of us has never heard of! But I do like the way he looks. In fact, I wouldn’t mind Takamaru being included as a playable character in future installments.
Pic of the day. I, Takamaru, have waited many years to appear in Super Smash Bros.! Link, Samus, Pit, and I debuted in the same year! Multidirectional Pinwheel Knife Rook Attack!! (FYI, I’m an Assist Trophy.)
Super Smash Bros For 3DS is due for release on October 3. While Super Smash Bros. For Wii U still has a tentative holiday launch.
