Media Create Numbers are in! And it is a mix bag of good and not so good news. Firstly, Mario Kart 8 has a fantastic opening week selling around 325, oo0 copies according to Media Create. Famitsu reports (likely including Digital sales) that 350 000 copies of Mario Kart 8 were purchased.

However, for the less positive news – Mario Kart 8 has only given the Wii U a modest boost – up 100% from last week – selling 19, 312 units this week. In all honesty, I was expecting the Wii U to be around the 30k- 4ok this week, so my expectations have been crushed.

Regardless, Mario Kart 8 has been a raging success for Nintendo, if only it could turn the fortunes of the declining Japanese market.
