Nintendo Please Save Miiverse – New Update Is Going To Kill The Community Spirit

Our Ex-good friend Marty from Miiverse, has now inadvertently ticked off the Miiverse community with the latest updates. The first update is in regards to the PC version of Miiverse. Nintendo has added “Verified user Icon” at the top of the community screen. Furthermore, a community search function has now been added.

The second update has really angered the community. A new restriction has now been integrated, restricting Users from posting in quick successions. ESSENTIALLY, FORCING USERS TO WAIT 3 MINUTES BEFORE THEY CAN COMMENT AGAIN ON THE SAME POST!

Naturally, this has not bode well for Miiverse inhabitants, and could potentially kill the community spirit.

Marty Wrote this on Miiverse (You can check the full details of the update as well):

“This affects all versions of Miiverse: You can no longer post several comments in quick succession on somebody else’s post.

From now on, after posting a comment on someone else’s post, you will have to wait around 3 minutes before you can comment again on the same post. This doesn’t apply to your own posts, where you can comment as frequently as you like.”

Worst of all – apparently as some users have reported – you will need to wait 3 minute before you can comment on a different post:

“YOU DIDN’T EVEN DO IT RIGHT! Now you have to wait 3 min after commenting on any other person’s post. You now can’t go from one person to the next to comment. You have to wait!”

“Marty you said “you will have to wait around 3 minutes before you can comment again ON THE SAME POST” but in fact it is on any post! Please correct the settings.”

The reaction to the new update has been overwhelmingly Negative. With many venting their frustration toward Marty (poor fella):

“This Is TERRIBLE!!! We Were Actually HAPPY Before That Stupid Rule Came Along!!! Join angry pie’s Riot/Rebellion And Save Miiverse From The 3 Minute Rule!!!!!!”

“#SaveMiiverse Marty , look I was a bit angry about this update . But now you HAVE to listen to your consumers . Just remove this update . EVERYONE is hating you for it .

“All at the same time! Honestly, Miiverse was almost perfect but this is a major step backwards. I use Miiverse a lot and pretty much Nintendo singlehandedly pulled me from other consoles PC and now”

Honestly, I cannot think of a valid reason or logical rationale that justifies this policy. Miiverse is supposedly a social network created in order produce a strong gaming community – that assists one another, shares thoughts and impression  and having worthwhile discussions about games. Much like other networks such as Facebook and Twitter – socializing is the core reason why Miiverse has been a success so far. Restricting how users socialize will no doubt kill the community spirit, making Miiverse a frustrating experience of interaction for Nintendo gamers.

If Nintendo has any sense of righteousness or want to keep the community thriving, they would need to overturn the policy immediately, there are no “if’s” or “buts” about it. Furthermore, I question why was this policy, even necessary? They had a good thing going here with Miiverse. Sure, a few improvements are still needed, but this “3 minute wait” rule is completely unnecessary – it seems to me Nintendo are purposely finding ways to shoot themselves on the foot. Besides, Nintendo has the responsibility to create an enjoyable Miiverse experience  – this policy will only frustrate users – perhaps enough to deter them completely.

Of course, it is only appropriate that a new hashtag to arise in order to get the message through to Nintendo. Spam #Savemiiverse at the end of every comment you make in the community. Fingers cross that this will catch on! If this policy does remain, then this will be another mistake to add to the list of errors Nintendo made in the last years.

Will Nintendo PLEASE get their head out of the sand on this issue … and the FAILURE of NintendoIDs being tied to hardware, which actually WORKS AGAINST US BUYING SOFTWARE ON ESHOP.

    It’s 2014 for goodness sake!!

As I put it, they should either fix it so it IS per-post or add a setting for each user to turn it off on their posts. If they don’t have the brains to do that, then they’re better off removing it entirely. (Also, just an FYI, people in the USA are blaming our announcement person, Tom.)

      Poor tom

If you honestly suffer panic attacks if you can’t post every other second I think you have OTHER issues you need to look into.

    • Orange Lada

No – it is just another annoyance to the use of the system. It isn’t about panic attacks, it is about Nintendo not thinking about their consumers – AGAIN!

      • Angel Palmero

it is otherwise, it is that nintendo thinks about customers. All those annoying Spamers… You can’t even comment something on Sakurai Post because of all the SPAM (The 1000 mssjes limit is reached at 12:00pm). Fu***ng PPG… :v

The update is fine. Spam hashtags all you want, it doesn’t do anything. The petition only has 21 signatures. You’re turning a molehill into a mountain. It’s as hilarious as it is pathetic.
