Like with Brawl, Sakurai will be providing daily updates on the development progress of Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS through Miiverse.

Yesterday – Sakurai revealed a brand new item: The Gust Bellows from the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The item will blow a strong breeze of wind towards opponents.

Today’s update Sakurai revealed that a few changes were  made to Pikachu’s Thunder. Firstly, the thunder cloud now deals damage to opponents. More importantly, Thunder can now Meteor Smash if the opponent gets hit by the cloud as shown in the screenshot

Sakurai on miiverse:

Pic of the day. Pikachu’s Thunder now starts off with a thundercloud that deals a Meteor Smash! From left to right, you can see this combo starting with Pikachu throwing the opponent upward, Meteor Smashing with the lightning strike, and then directly attacking. Foes can dodge, of course, so the attack won’t hit consistently, but when it does, it sure feels good!
