Nintendo of America is on a hiring spree, Possible expansion planned
It appears Nintendo has finally awakened and is now setting plans in motion. As someone has pointed out to me – Nintendo of America is on a hiring spree – looking for quality individuals to fill numerous job positions.
In the past 24 hours – NOA has posted up a total of 37 vacancies. In February alone – 63 positions have opened up (around that; counting while scrolling can be disorientating). Some roles include Software Support Engineer, IT Architect, Business Analyst, eShop Merchant and Programmer. Of course, it would be wise to look at Nintendo’s activity in the months before -in order to rule out the possibility that this behavior is normal.
Going by the Twitter account – prior to February 2014 – the last posting was made on October 2013. For that month only 2 vacancies were posted. Furthermore, the months before October 2013 – none have reached the extraordinary number of 63 – in fact no months were even close. Unfortunately, I could not get a sample from February 2013. But, I think it is safe to assume that this behavior is not typical.
So what could this mean? I did some research, but I could not find anything on “job cuts” or “mass exodus” of employees from Nintendo of America. So these Job Vacancies cannot be a reaction to replace leaving employees. My gut feeling tells me that Nintendo is expanding in preparation of the “Quality of Life” business model. Furthermore, I do believe Iwata is giving Nintendo of America more tools to improve their business in the American Market. Nevertheless, it is about time Nintendo expands – clearly they are having trouble supporting two consoles simultaneously and I hope something massive is brewing in the background.
