Rumors have been circulating that Minecraft is currently in development for the Wii U and is due next year. However, currently this is rumor so you should not get your hopes high.

Minecraft creator, Markus “Notch” Persson, has outright denied any plans for a  Wii U version.

“I am not aware of any plans to release a Wii U version of Minecraf Markus said on Twitter.

However, Markus does agree that a Wii U version does make sense.

“I agree a Wii U version would make sense, btw. The only reason for no current plans is we’ve got too much work already. I <3 Nintendo”

Personally, I think this is just PR talk – that is neither confirming or outright denying. A Wii U version could indeed be in the works – we will just have to wait.
