Assist trophies I want to see in Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS

Unfortunately, not all popular Nintendo mascots will earn a spot on the covenant Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS playable character roster. Only the best, the popular and the iconic make the cut bar a exceptional few. Fortunately for the more obscure and less popular Mascots there is the good chance to make the cut for Assist trophies.

Recently, Skull Kid from Majora’s Mask was announced as the first new Assist Trophy. The announcement has gotten me excited at the possibilities of more fantastic Assist Trophies.

So here are some Assist trophies I would like to see in Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS:

As one of the signature foes in the Pikmin series – Bulborb would fit perfectly within the game. The assist trophy summons a medium size Bulborb that walks around the field gulping anyone foolish enough to its mouth. It would be hilarious to see what happens when you play as Olimar and begin to throw Pikmin at the Bulborb.

I love Platinum Robo from the Wonderful 101. It is so outrageous and so over the top that you can help but love her. Much like Andross in Brawl, Platinum Robo can attack with its giant laser at the background of the stage.

Groose is a fan favorite from Skyward Sword. Summoning the Groosenator will have him leave the screen and using the catapult to fire off bombs on the stage. Skull Kid form Zelda has been confirmed, but surely there is enough room for Groose?

It is unlikely that Sakurai will add two playable 3rd party characters from the same series. Therefore, we cannot expect the highly popular Zero to be playable. But there is nothing stopping Zero appearing as an assist trophy. I would assume once summoned Zero would combo attack the closest foe.

Knuckles is in the same boat as Zero. Nintendo simply isn’t going to allow two playable 3rd party characters from the same series.  Knuckles would fit as an assist trophy as his brute strength and fighting prowess will fit well as an Assist trophy.

I am a bit conflicted. I want Mii to be a playable character because I am a Mii-gamer, but there are so many mascots that are more deserving of a spot. A compromise must be made. And that compromise could be Mii appearing as an assist trophy instead of a playable character. It would be hilarious that all that Mii does is jump around the stage and cheers the player on.
