I’ve been eagerly awaiting for Media Create Japanese video game sales all week, particularly wanting to know the performance of Hyrule Warriors. Thankfully, Hyrule Warriorhad more than a decent debut selling 69,090 units during its launch week. As a result – the Wii U got a respectable bump in hardware sales, with 18,161 more consoles entering Japanese household.

As always, the 3DS continues to be a strong performer in Japan for Nintendo. For the week, an estimated 52,000 3DS were sold – as Yo-Kai Watch 2 continues to blaze through the charts selling an additional 118,526 copies. Mario Kart 8 has proven to be an evergreen title for the Nintendo Wii U – with another 28,000 copies added to its impressive lifetime sales.

Overall, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo should be happy with the performance of Hyrule Warriors. More importantly, the 3DS and Wii U are picking up steam leading up to the busy holiday season, which should result into impressive hardware sales (relative to last year).
