Mario Kart 8 Holds Strong In This Weeks UK Sales Charts
Mario kart 8 Holds Strong In Thies Weeks UK Sales Charts
It has been over a month since the launch of Mario Kart 8 in the UK. Mario Kart 8 did initially enjoy a great debut, having the best opening week of any Wii U game since the launch of the console and boosting hardware sales by an impressive 666% over the previous week. However, the real test will be whether Mario Kart 8 can maintain an impressive sales curve throughout the span of its life.
Thankfully, in the latest UK software charts – Mario Kart 8 has shown that it has plenty of fuel left in the tank. This week Mario Kart 8 has climbed 3 spots in the individual format charts, moving from its number 6th position with an impressive 3rd placing. The quirky life simulator – Tomodachi Life has been a consistent seller in the UK – holding strong at 5th in the individual software charts.
Pokemon Black and White reemerge in the top 40 again, which can be attributed to impulsive price discounts during the week. Overall, Nintendo should be happy with the performances of their software. However, that is not to say that there is no room for improvement. I would argue that Nintendo should continue to work on their presence in the UK – 6 games in the individual software charts isn’t a number to gloat about.
Nevertheless, at the beginning of the year it was rare to see a Nintendo game in the UK charts. I suppose it is all relative. I sincerely hope Mario Kart 8 can be an evergreen seller for the Wii U! It certainly needs to be, if Nintendo wants to be successful in the UK.
From a sales perspective – the only Wii U title that will make a mark on the UK charts during the next 6 month is Super Smash Bros. For Wii U. I cannot see Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2 or Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker selling well in the UK… I could be wrong though!
