Mario kart 8 is 1080p at 60FPS says Eurogamer
Update: The Article is about one month old. Nevertheless, it is an interesting find.
Mario Kart 8 looks gorgeous! Currently, Mario Kart 8 is by far the best looking game on the Wii U – eclipsing the likes of Super Mario 3D world by a sizable margin. While the final technical specification has not been confirmed, we do know that the game will run at 60FPS.
However, according to Eurogamer, Mario Kart 8 is running at 1080p and 60FPS, even at 2 player multiplayer.
“You probably knew this bit already, but Mario Kart 8 is looking like another polished racer from Nintendo. The game’s visuals are beautiful, 1080p and 60fps even in two-player split-screen, while new characters and weapons such as the Piranha Plant keep things feeling fresh amongst otherwise familiar surroundings.”
That is an impressive feat if true. Eurogamer did mention that the game dips in graphical quality when 3-4 players join in the fun.
“Things look rather less smooth when in split-screen with three or four players – Nintendo describes the experience as 30fps here, although other minor graphical differences are noticeable. Draw distances are greatly reduced for certain details, such as the imprints of your vehicle’s wheels on sand, although when travelling at speed it is not always noticeable.”
It will be interesting when the game is out – we get confirmation that Mario Kart 8 is indeed running at 1080p and 60FPS. Eurogamer is generally good with the technical analysis, but I am not sure this was done by the Digital Foundry team.
